There were hugely distressing scenes in Copenhagen tonight when the Denmark worldwide collapsed during his country's Euro 2020 opener against Finland.
He collapsed about 40 minutes into the game with Finland in Copenhagen, with no other players near him.
UEFA later confirmed that the player was transferred to a local hospital and has been stabilized. From the video available it appeared that the medical intervention involved the administering of chest compressions.
"We have been in contact with him and the players have spoken to Christian", said Peter Moller of the Danish Football Association.
Uefa said a crisis meeting had taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated.
Eriksen was given urgent medical attention on the field for about 10 minutes before he was carried off on a stretcher.

Other players posting similar tweets for the Denmark midfielder included former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher and Manchester United's former right-back Gary Neville as well as current England and Aston Villa forward Jack Grealish. I couldn't be prouder of those people who took such good care of each other. He is doing well and they are playing the match for Christian.
Both his current club Inter Milan and former team Tottenham Hotspur sent their thoughts and prayers to his family.
Eriksen had just played a short pass when he fell face-forward onto the ground.
Meanwhile, the BBC has apologised after complaints that it continued to broadcast images of Eriksen being treated.
Finland was making its debut at a major tournament but what should have been the biggest win in the country's soccer history was completely overshadowed by Eriksen's medical emergency.
Presenter Gary Lineker also apologised but said they "were the host pictures and out of our control".
